About the Bath River Line

Bath Artist Studios

The Bath River Line is a 10km linear park that follows the River Avon through the heart of the city. Led by Bath & North East Somerset Council, the project is funded by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Phase One, running from Newbridge to Green Park, is now nearing completion.

From Newbridge to Batheaston, the route links Bath’s industrial past, Georgian landscapes, and vibrant riverside ecology. It winds through parks, riverbank (riparian) habitats, and historic riverside spaces, creating a green corridor for walking, cycling, wildlife, and wellbeing.
The project supports the council’s vision to grow the active travel network, improve towpaths and green spaces, and create a more visible, biodiverse, accessible, and enjoyable riverside for everyone.

The Bath River Line is more than a path — it’s a place to connect with nature, uncover local stories, and enjoy a different side to Bath.
